As October gets closer, rooftops, warehouses, hotels, clubs, and unexpected New York spaces start transforming for Halloween weekend. There are massive costume parties, immersive experiences, rooftop celebrations, and nights built around music, dancing, and elaborate Halloween atmospheres.

Whether you want something completely over the top or simply want an excuse to dress up and spend the night in New York, there are plenty of ways to celebrate.

Here are some of the Halloween parties and nightlife events catching my eye for 2026.

The Vampire Ball – Industry City, Brooklyn

When: October 30 & 31, 2026

Where: Industry City, Brooklyn

Time: Doors open at 9pm

If you're looking for the full gothic Halloween experience, The Vampire Ball is hard to ignore.

Created by House of Yes and David Kiss, the event takes over a huge warehouse complex at Industry City with multiple stages, music, immersive installations, and a distinctly dark atmosphere.

The event is also an official partner of the NYC Village Halloween Parade, making it particularly interesting for anyone planning a full Halloween weekend around the parade.

Costumes are very much part of the experience, and the 2026 edition takes place over two nights.

Best for: Gothic glamour, big costumes, dancing, and an all-night Halloween experience.

City of Gods – Industry City, Brooklyn

When: October 23 & 24, 2026

Where: Industry City, Brooklyn

If you want to start celebrating Halloween before the final weekend of October, City of Gods brings a completely different kind of experience to Industry City.

Described as an immersive Halloween music and arts festival, the event transforms the warehouse complex into a giant fantasy world filled with stages, installations, themed spaces, and interactive experiences.

The 2026 edition marks its seventh year and runs over two nights.

Costumes are required, and the whole event is designed to feel more like stepping into another world than simply going to a Halloween party.

Best for: Immersive experiences, electronic music, elaborate costumes, and people who want Halloween to feel like an entire world.

Halloween at PUBLIC Hotel – Lower East Side

When: October 30 & 31, 2026

Where: PUBLIC Hotel, Lower East Side

For something a little more polished, PUBLIC Hotel is hosting multiple Halloween events across its rooftop and penthouse spaces during Halloween weekend.

The 17th-floor Penthouse Halloween and Haunted Heights events bring DJs, costumes, nightlife, and Lower East Side views together for a more upscale Halloween night.

The hotel is particularly appealing if you want the party atmosphere without heading to a warehouse or traditional club.

Best for: Rooftop views, dressing up, cocktails, and a more glamorous Halloween night.

Lyra Halloween at Magic Hour Rooftop

When: October 30 & 31, 2026

Where: Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge, Midtown

Time: 9pm–4am

Halloween gets a rooftop setting at Magic Hour, where Lyra takes over the space for two nights beneath the Empire State Building.

The party features two music zones, with one focused on open-format music, throwbacks, Top 40, and house remixes, while the other leans toward house, tech, afro, and minimal sounds.

There are Empire State Building views, a retractable roof, and costumes are required.

It's basically the New York Halloween rooftop party version of going all in.

Best for: Skyline views, dancing, costumes, and a classic NYC nightlife atmosphere.

Halloween Bash: Ghosts of New York – Museum of the City of New York

When: October 31, 2026

Where: Museum of the City of New York

Time: 6pm

Not every Halloween party has to revolve around a nightclub.

The Museum of the City of New York's annual Halloween Bash takes over the museum on Halloween night with music, dancing, drag performances, costume contests, themed cocktails, and DJ sets on the South Terrace.

Guests can also explore the museum after hours, making this a particularly New York way to spend Halloween night.

The 2026 theme is Ghosts of New York, with guests encouraged to come dressed as the ghost of a famous New Yorker.

Best for: Something different from a traditional club night, creative costumes, music, and a distinctly NYC setting.

Halloween in New York Doesn't Have to Mean One Kind of Party

One of the things I love about Halloween in New York is how many different versions of the night exist.

You can spend the evening dancing beneath the Empire State Building, disappear into an enormous Brooklyn warehouse, dress up for a hotel rooftop party, or spend Halloween night inside a museum surrounded by New York history.

And you don't necessarily have to wait until October 31. Some of the city's biggest Halloween experiences start the weekend before, giving you several opportunities to find your own version of the season.

The best part is probably the atmosphere.

For one night, New York becomes even more theatrical than usual. Everyone is dressed up, rooftops glow above Manhattan, music spills out into the streets, and even the most ordinary night can feel a little more unexpected.
